Due to the constructive design of the sealing with higher pressure the cover gasket is compressed by the locking element thus increasing the sealing force towards the valve body and releasing pressure containing elements such as studs. In some applications, flow rates should be controlled with the lowest possible pressure drop. In other applications, high pressures must be controlled safely and quietly. Higher differential pressures are possible with the multi-stage perforated plug.
